Why knots tend to loosen slowly
Constraint, in the Chinese medicine sense, isn't something herbalists expected to shift overnight. The whole idea behind Jie Yu An Shen Pian is that Qi and Blood have bunched up over time, usually after months of the same pressures and the same hunched posture at the same desk, and the Shen has had nowhere comfy to land. So the traditional approach was patience. You'd see a practitioner keep someone on it for weeks (popping in now and then to see how they were getting on), and frankly nobody expected one bottle to say much. Sixty days? That's about right for slow unpicking, if you ask us.
It's also a busy formula, fourteen herbs with a lot of moving ones in the mix, so it suits people whose tension feels physical. If yours is more of a hot, chattering head, have a look at the comparison further down. And if low mood or poor sleep has been dragging on, please talk to your GP. It's a food supplement, mind, and we won't pretend it treats either one.
10 days a bottle, about 60 days in all
How sixty days might unfold
Bottles 1–2
Days 1 to 20
Three in the morning, three at night. Where do you hold it all? Jaw? Shoulders? We'd scribble that down somewhere, because you'll be glad of the notes later, honestly.
Bottles 3–4
Days 21 to 40
Same again. Boring, we know. The old herbalists were big on moving about with this sort of formula, so if it were us we'd add a walk, or a lazy stretch before bed.
Bottles 5–6
Days 41 to 60
Dig the notes out. Here's where a practitioner would've had a think about carrying on or calling it a day. Anything worried you on the way? Have a word with your GP.
Not one for pregnancy, trying to conceive or breastfeeding, as five of its herbs move Blood, and best avoided with blood thinners, liver problems (it contains fo-ti vine) or high blood pressure (there's a fair bit of liquorice). Taking sedatives, or really any medicine at all? Then we'd want you to have a quick chat with your GP or pharmacist first, please.
Choosing between them
Three formulas for a mind that won't settle
Our range has a few Shen-settling and Qi-moving formulas, and they're easy to muddle. Here's roughly how herbalists told them apart.
This page
Jie Yu An Shen Pian
Fourteen herbs, lots of them movers. You'd have seen it picked for folk whose tension had set up camp in the body (shoulders up round the ears) with a busy mind on top.
Brisk Liver Qi mover
Chai Hu Shu Gan San
The sigher's formula, really. When Liver Qi was well and truly stuck and the ribs felt tight, this got the nod. It's less fussed about the Shen and more about shifting Qi.
See Chai Hu Shu Gan SanThe tired worrier
Gui Pi Tang
Running on fumes and still overthinking? That's this one's territory. It builds Qi and Blood (Heart and Spleen stuff) instead of moving them, so think worn out rather than wound up.

Emma E., verified buyer of Geng Nian AnJie Yu An Shen Pian: your questions
Do people take Jie Yu An Shen Pian for anxiety?
It often comes up in conversations about anxiety, but it isn't a treatment for it and we can't say it'll help. The old herbalists didn't think in diagnoses anyway. They'd talk about Qi and Blood getting knotted up and the Shen not settling. And anxiety's a proper medical thing, so if it's new or hanging about or getting in your way, we'd honestly go to the GP first. They can sort out real support.
Can I take it alongside Gui Pi Tang?
Maybe. We wouldn't guess at it, though. One moves Qi and Blood, the other builds them up, and a good practitioner can make that pairing work. Here's the catch: there's liquorice in both, so you'd be stacking it. We'd ask a qualified herbalist, and if you're on any medicine, run it past your GP or pharmacist too.
Is the stiff neck and shoulders thing connected, then?
In this tradition, quite a lot. Herbalists read tension held in the shoulders, neck and upper back as Qi that wasn't flowing, which is partly why cinnamon twig, kadsura stem and siler are in the mix to ease the channels. It's a traditional way of seeing things, of course, and a stiff neck that won't settle deserves a look from your GP or a physio.
What habits did herbalists pair with a Qi-moving formula like this?
Mostly movement and a bit of letting go. Walking, stretching and anything that gets you breathing out properly were the usual advice, since stuck Qi was thought to loosen with motion. Some practitioners also suggested going easy on late nights and screens, so the Shen had a fighting chance of settling at bedtime. None of it's complicated. It's just the sort of thing people forget.
How long does the 6-pack last, and is it the same formula?
Sixty days, and yes, it's exactly the same Jie Yu An Shen Pian as the single bottle. You get six bottles of 60 tablets, 360 in all, and at three in the morning and three in the evening each bottle lasts ten days. Same fourteen herbs, same tablets, just enough for a steady couple of months.
