Moving and nourishing, cycle after cycle
Tao Hong Si Wu Tang does two jobs at once, and herbalists watched both over time. Peach kernel and safflower move stuck Blood, while the four base roots feed it. Practitioners tended to judge it by the cycle: was the flow starting more easily, darker clots less of a feature, that fixed dragging ache low down less insistent? None of that shows in a week or two. A couple of months gave them something to go on, which is why so many people who settle on this formula end up wanting a longer supply.
It's firmer than plain Si Wu Tang, so it's not a formula to be casual about. Herbalists stopped Blood-movers like this whenever the flow was already heavy, and the moment a pregnancy was possible. Over a two-month stretch, those are the things worth keeping an eye on.
10 days a bottle, about 60 days in all
How the sixty days tend to go
Bottles 1–2
Days 1 to 20
Three in the morning, three at night. Scribble down what your cycle's doing now (when it comes, the colour, where it aches) because, frankly, memory's hopeless at this.
Bottles 3–4
Days 21 to 40
Your first cycle on it. If your flow becomes noticeably heavier, stop. Herbalists never kept Blood-movers going through heavy bleeding.
Bottles 5–6
Days 41 to 60
The second cycle, and time to compare notes. Some people step down to gentler Si Wu Tang afterwards. Pain that's new, severe or ongoing needs your GP.
Pregnant, trying for a baby or breastfeeding? Then it's a no, honestly, because peach kernel and safflower are proper Blood-movers. Same goes if you're on warfarin, aspirin or another blood thinner, or you've got surgery coming up. Taking anything regularly? Have a word with your GP or pharmacist first, we'd rather you did.

Tao Hong Si Wu Tang moves Blood and feeds it in one go. These two lean harder on the moving side, each with its own traditional picture.

Tao Hong Si Wu Tang
Four Blood roots plus peach kernel and safflower. Chosen when the pale, tired look of thin Blood comes with dark, clotted, slow-starting periods.

Gui Zhi Fu Ling Wan
Five herbs from the Golden Cabinet. This was the one for that heavy, lodged feeling low in the belly, and it doesn't bother much with feeding the Blood.

What people say about Tao Hong Si Wu Tang
Great product, I felt a difference within the first week. Will keep using this I think for the foreseeable future.

Laurie H., verified buyerTao Hong Si Wu Tang: your questions
Is Tao Hong Si Wu Tang used for period pain?
Historically, yes, it's what herbalists reached for when period pain was stabbing, stayed in one spot and came with dark clots. Old pattern, not a medical claim. It's a food supplement, so it isn't a treatment either. Pain that's bad, getting worse, or turns up between periods? GP, please. That can be things like endometriosis, which really needs looking into properly.
What about Tao Hong Si Wu Tang and endometriosis?
It gets mentioned, because Chinese medicine tends to see that sort of pain as Blood stasis. But Tao Hong Si Wu Tang isn't a treatment for endometriosis and shouldn't stand in for one. Think you might have it, or already been told you do? Keep your GP or gynae in the loop, and do mention anything herbal you're on.
Why did herbalists stop it when the flow is heavy?
Because its whole purpose is getting Blood moving, and a heavy flow is already moving plenty, in their way of thinking. Adding peach kernel and safflower on top was seen as a mistake. Over a two-month stretch, that's the most important thing to watch. If periods turn heavy, stop and have a word with your GP.
Did people take it after an injury?
They did. Blood-moving formulas have long been used by herbalists when knocks and bruises left things feeling stuck, and Si Wu Tang itself began in a bone-setting book. Still, a recent injury, swelling or bruising you can't explain is a GP matter first. And with Blood-movers involved, mention it if you're on any anticoagulant.
Is the 6-pack the same formula?
Yes. It's the very same six-herb Tao Hong Si Wu Tang, just six bottles of it, with 60 tablets in each. Three morning and three evening means a bottle's gone in ten days. So sixty days in all, call it two cycles. Nothing about the tablets or the dose changes.
